With 36 days left to go, Barren Inc. announced that spots for the annual, nighttime Glasgow Christmas parade are sold out.
Glasgow’s Christmas parade is Dec. 6. Director of Programs and Events Erin Hiles said the chamber has received 156 applications with two currently on the waitlist. The 156 does not include elected officials or marching bands, Hiles said.
Parade spots may be sold out right now, but Hiles still encourages those individuals, organizations, or businesses interested in participating to submit applications as additional spots might open up in the future.
“We are sold out right now [but] we may have a few more spots open up once we get everything inputted,” Hiles said. “I do anticipate we’ll have more spots open up.”
Out of the 156 spots, Hiles said 138 are businesses, individuals, families and nonprofits, which is something she mentioned was a point of pride for the chamber. Two spots per business or organization was the maximum, Hiles added.
“I am excited that out of those 156 [spots] it’s 138 individual organizations, companies, families, churches,” Hiles said. “Very good representation this year.”
Much like last year, the entries will be divided amongst nine categories, which are government, small business –which, Hiles said was “by far” the largest category — fire departments, clubs or organizations, scouts, school groups, church groups, family or individuals and large business. The nighttime parade will follow the traditional route, Hiles said, beginning at Glasgow High School, running down Columbia Avenue, around the Square, and ending at Southgate.
Neon Christmas was announced as the parade’s theme during an August press conference and the Barren County Flames Special Olympics Team was selected as the 2025 Christmas Parade Grand Marshal.
In 2024, there were 160 entries in the parade, according to prior reporting.
