Local high school artists now have an opportunity to showcase their work on a national stage through the 2026 Congressional Art Competition for Kentucky’s Second District, according to U.S. Rep. Brett Guthrie.

Guthrie said the annual competition is officially underway and encourages students who want to highlight their talents to consider entering.

Submissions from Kentucky’s Second District will be reviewed by an independent panel of local art professors from colleges and universities, along with professional artists.

According to information released by Guthrie’s office, the overall winner’s artwork will be displayed in the U.S. Capitol Building for one year alongside winning pieces from other districts and territories. The second- and third-place overall winners will have their artwork hung in Guthrie’s Washington, D.C., and Bowling Green offices.

The competition will also feature a “Facebook Favorite” category. The Facebook Favorite winner’s artwork will then be displayed in Guthrie’s Bowling Green district office.

All student entries that meet the contest rules and regulations will be posted on Guthrie’s official Facebook page. Members of the public will be able to vote for their favorite piece between April 6 and April 10.

Students have options to submit their artwork to Guthrie’s Bowling Green district office by the April 1 deadline. Entries can be shipped or dropped off at the office at 996 Wilkinson Trace, Suite B2, Bowling Green, KY 42103, marked “Attention: 2026 Art Competition.” Students may also call the district office at 270-842-9896 to arrange for a member of Guthrie’s staff to pick up artwork at their schools.
