Farmers RECC members are currently casting ballots in this year’s District III Board of Directors election, with two candidates seeking the position.
The candidates on the ballot are James “Jamie” Moss and Greg Wilson.
Farmers RECC members received ballots by mail, and the cooperative is encouraging members to return them as soon as possible. To be counted in the election, ballots must be received by June 29. Farmers RECC recommends members mail ballots this week to allow enough time for delivery through the U.S. Postal Service.
Election results will be announced during the cooperative’s Annual Meeting business meeting scheduled for July 9 at 2 p.m. at the Cave Area Conference Center.
A Farmers RECC director serves on the cooperative’s board, which meets monthly to conduct the business of the organization. Directors receive a stipend and mileage reimbursement for attending meetings and required trainings.
Moss currently serves as the District III director after being selected by the Farmers RECC Board of Directors to fulfill the unexpired term of Ronnie Smith. Moss said he was chosen following an interview process with multiple candidates. Moss said he has previously served multiple times on the Farmers RECC Nominating Committee and has also served on the cooperative’s Grassroots Committee. He also participated in the Honor Flight program sponsored by Touchstone Energy. Moss is a graduate of Western Kentucky University, where he earned a master’s degree. He has 30 years of experience as an educator and has a background in agriculture, including tobacco, hay and beef cattle. He has been a Farmers RECC member since 1990.
Wilson, who is also seeking the District III seat, said he has lived and worked in the Farmers RECC service area his entire life. A graduate of Metcalfe County High School, Wilson attended Brescia University and Lindsey Wilson University. He is currently a self-employed contractor and farmer. Wilson and his wife, Christi Marksbury Wilson, have four children — Luke Wilson, Emma McMurtrey, Cole Wilson and Brody Wilson — along with six grandchildren. Wilson said he has served in numerous volunteer roles on various boards, where he worked with others on decision-making and leadership.
Farmers RECC members with questions about the election or their ballot should contact the cooperative at 270-651-2191.
