Saturday evening at the edge of Glasgow brings the opportunity for local residents and vendors alike to enjoy music, food, free tethered hot-air balloon rides and more.
The gates to the Glasgow Municipal Airport are scheduled to open at 4 p.m. for the 2022 Groove & Glow, with food trucks, music and other activities available for at least the first three hours. Musical artists Mason Gentry, Tail Diablo and Justin Cole are among those in the lineup that begins at 4:30 p.m.
Admission is free, as are tethered rides on the balloons beginning at 5:30 p.m.; however, for those who are especially eager and/or impatient, the option to purchase a “fast pass” to skip the lines is available at at https://tinyurl.com/2kwhaa2j, but the supply of those is limited.
Beginning at 8 p.m., balloon operators will commence a coordinated effort to simultaneously light up the balloons, and that will lead into headliner Kenton Bryant’s time on the stage.
Drones are not allowed at the event, but the Entertain Glasgow Committee encourages guests to “Bring your coolers, chairs and blankets, and come hungry.”
Those attending will need to enter via Ky. 90 (Happy Valley Road), the primary airport entrance. The exit route, however, will steer traffic to Martin Road, which then joins Dripping Springs Road, which leads back to Ky. 90 to the right or, with a left turn, to Ky. 2189 (Glasgow-Park City Road) and other connections.
Glasgow Police Department and multiple other agencies and organizations will be assisting with traffic direction.
