Glasgow Police Department’s investigation into an assault alleged to be by one inmate at the Barren County Detention Center against another inmate continues this week.
On Saturday, GPD was called to the jail in reference to a medical complaint per protocol that requires their notification any time an ambulance is called there, according to the arrest citation.
After further investigation, including review of surveillance footage, officers determined that inmate Austin T. Brown had assaulted another inmate, whose name has been redacted from from the citation. The person Brown is accused of assaulting was taken to T.J. Samson Community Hospital, where his injuries received preliminary evaluation, and was then airlifted to the University of Louisville for treatment, according to a GPD press release and the citation.
Officer Garth Bragg arrested Brown, who was charged with first-degree assault and intimidating a participant in the legal process.
According to the citation, the two men were in the same cell when the incident occurred, and it was later determined their cases were related and they were subjects in the same criminal investigation.
