Brenda Carol Carver, 72, Glasgow
Brenda Carol Carver, 72, of Glasgow died Monday, Nov. 21, 2022, with her family by her side. She is preceded in death by her parents, Ewell and Helen Groce. She was a beloved wife, loving mother, proud grandmother, and most important, a faithful Christian.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Robert Ewell Carver; three daughters, Montina Sharp (Jeff) of Glasgow, Michelle Kingrey (Jerry) of Glasgow and Mattea Van Zee (Ted) of Lawrenceburg. She was most proud of her role as nanny Bren to Jacob Sharp (Emily), Elijah Sharp, Noah Kingrey (Cassie), Caleb Kingrey, Chloe Sharp, Raven Kingrey, Isaac Van Zee, Luke Van Zee, Matthew Van Zee, Lilah Kingrey, and Olive Kingery. She is also loved by her sisters and brothers, Billy Jo Groce (Gail), Barbara Medley, William Earl Groce, Judy Wilborn (Mike), & Ronnie Groce (Mandy).
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sister-in-law, Mary Groce; mother-in-law, Betty Carver: and father-in-law, Ewell Carver.
Funeral service is at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2022, at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home, with burial in Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a memorial contribution be made

James L. George, 67, Cave City
James L. George, 67, of Cave City died Friday, Nov. 18, 2022, at Glenview Health Care Center. He was a son of the late Robert and Gracie Hunt George. He was a retired carpenter and Vietnam veteran.
He is survived by his wife, Cecilia Ann George.
The family has chosen cremation. Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Joshua Michael James, 35, Granite Falls, N.C.
Joshua Michael James, 35, of Granite Falls, North Carolina, died Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2022. Joshua was born Oct. 21, 1987, in Sandusky, Ohio, and joined the U.S. Army as a 13B Field Artillery Cannon crewmember on July 18, 2009. He was deployed to Iraq as part of Operation New Dawn in May 2016. He was promoted to sergeant on May 1, 2012, and promoted to staff sergeant Sept. 1, 2016, and posthumously promoted to sergeant first class. He was stationed at Fort Bragg from 2010 until 2013, Fort Campbell from 2013 until 2018, and the Morganton and Hickory Recruiting Stations from 2018 until 2022.
He was a graduate of the U.S. Army Artillery’s Advanced Leader Course as Distinguished Honor Graduate and Army Senior Leader Course. He was also a graduate of Army Airborne (2010) and Air Assault (2013) schools. He graduated the Army Recruiter Course in 2018. His Awards include: an Army Commendation Medal with C-Combat Device, an Army Commendation Medal, six Army Achievement Medals, four Army Good Conduct Medals, a National Defense Service Medal, a Global War on Terrorism Medal, an Iraqi Campaign Medal, an Army Recruiting Badge, a Parachutist Badge, and the Air Assault Badge.
Survivors include his wife, Lindsey Harper James of Granite Falls; his mother, Dawn Marie James Yates and husband Donald of Sandusky; his girls, Haylen Rayne James and Justyce Nichole Glass, both of Granite Falls; his siblings, Marcedes Pidcock and husband Matt of Wauseon, Ohio, Garrett James of Sandusky, and Cricket Walters and husband Aaron of Sandusky; his grandmother, Alice Harkness of Sandusky; his cousin (like a brother), Scott Pflieger SFC-E7 and wife Brittany; and a very large extended family.
He is preceded in death by his grandfather, Robert James.
Graveside service is at 2 p.m. Sunday Dec. 4, 2022, at Harper Family Cemetery in Glasgow, with arrangements entrusted to A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home in Glasgow. Additionally, a celebration of life was Sunday at Fyreside in Granite Falls, and a visitation is scheduled for for 4 to 6 p.m. Dec. 2 at Mackie Funeral Service in Granite Falls.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Til Valhalla Project, 3400 Agricultural Center Drive, Saint Augustine, FL 32092.

James Henry Richey, 87, Temple Hill
James Henry Richey, 87, of Temple Hill died Saturday, Nov. 19, 2022, at The Medical Center at Bowling Green. He was born in Mount Hermon on Jan. 25, 1935, to the late Millard H. Richey and Altie D. Davis Richey. James worked at and retired after 30 years from SKF and was a member and deacon at Temple Hill Baptist Church.
Survivors include his loving wife of 69 years and 11 months, Shirley Olene Mutter Richey of Temple Hill; two sons, Tony Richey (Sondra) of Temple Hill and Tim Richey (Vicki) of Rocky Hill; five grandchildren, Michael Richey (Martha), Crystal James, Toni Richey Walden, T.A. Jackson (Britney), and Heather Heck (Michael); 14 great-grandchildren, Justin Richey (Megan), Clay Williams (Kelsey), Aaron Richey, Ashton and Evan Rock, Ava and Aiden Jackson, Jakeb Walden, Lyla and Nettie James, Henry and Charlotte Heck, and Nathan and Tyler Painter; three great-great-grandchildren, Maddie, Addi, and Granger, plus a great-great-granddaughter expected in December, Lydia Claire Richey; one sister, Virginia Ann Bowman of Louisville; his pet cat Toby; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a great grandson, Tommy Richey, and his in-laws, Jewell and Nell Mutter.
His greatest accomplishments include his gardens, his honeybees, his genealogy research and his John Deere tractor collection.
Funeral service is at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2022, at Temple Hill Baptist Church with burial in Poplar Log Cemetery. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at A.F. Crow Funeral Home, and from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at the church.
In lieu of flowers, family requests that donations be made to the Temple Hill Baptist Church.

Violet Helen Bennett Scott, 84, Glasgow
Violet Helen Bennett Scott, 84, of Glasgow died Sunday, Nov. 20, 2022, at Glenview Health & Rehabilitation Center. A native of Adair County, she was a daughter of the late Almer Rollin Bennett and Delsie Coomer Bennett. She was a member and prayer minister at Amazing Grace Church, which was a huge priority in her life. She was a retired waitress at the Porch Restaurant in Russell Springs and loved working crossword puzzles.
Survivors include two children, Patricia F. Coogle (Ricky) of Shepherdsville and James L. Scott (Carla) of Glasgow; three grandchildren, Mikey Logan, Brittney Stuart (Jerry) and Kristy L. Scott; one brother, Dennis Bennett (Betty) of Plant City, Florida; one sister, Patti Tucker of Columbia; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband James Edward Scott; two brothers, Leon “Wig” Bennett and Richard “Ricky” Bennett; four sisters: Barbara Reynolds, Jewel Burkhead, Brenda Hart and Delsie Florance Bennett.
A committal service is at 1:30 p.m. EST Wednesday at Mill Springs National Cemetery in Nancy. Expressions of sympathy are suggested to go to the Barren River Animal Welfare Association. Arrangements are entrusted to Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home.
