James Earl Bunch Sr., 71, Park City
James Earl Bunch Sr., 71, of Park City died Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2022, in Glasgow. The Hart County native was born April 5, 1951, to the late Leonard and Rose Craine Bunch. He was married to Charlene Heath Bunch, who survives.
James served our country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era. He was a former employee of Anderson Woodworking and a member of the American Legion.
Besides his wife, Charlene, he leaves to honor his memory his children, James Earl Bunch Jr. (Lori) of Glasgow and Michelle Marie Siewart of Hardyville; grandchildren, Zachary and Gracelyn Bunch; and sister, Janette Owens (Jimmy) of Munfordville.
A private memorial service will be planned at a later date. Arrangements are entrusted to Patton Funeral Home, Park City Chapel.

Amanda Maxene Underwood, 91
Amanda Maxene Underwood, 91, died Nov. 29, 2022.
She is survived by three children: Monica Lile, Mark (Rita) Underwood and Scott (Scott) Underwood; four grandchildren, Danielle Stewart, Chad (Cierra) Underwood, Michael (Mandy) Buchanan and Craig (Shelly) Buchanan; seven great-grandchildren, Brittany (Ben) Williams, Haley Stewart, Briley Buchanan, Brenley Buchanan, Micaela Buchanan, Swan Buchanan and Savannah Buchanan; four great-great grandchildren, Nova, Saint, Everleigh and Jaxon; along with nieces and nephews, Linda Bewley, Gary Bewley, Jardy (Helen) Bewley and Carroll (Anne) Bewley.
We are, and will forever be grateful for Mahlah, Maklah and the entire Lile family for their immeasurable and unconditional love, care and support they provided to our sweet mom.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, William “Bill” Underwood; parents, Will and Mae Bewley; siblings Floyd Bewley, Howard Bewley, Carlos Bewley, Clifford Bewley, Lee Raymond Bewley and Virginia Plumlee; sisters-in-law, Lucille Underwood, Zelma Underwood and Betty Underwood; and sons-in-law, Terry Buchanan, and Marty Lile.
Maxene graduated from Temple Hill School in 1950. As assistant director of Parks and Recreation, she retired after 27 years. As a very competitive athlete, she played “fast pitch” softball from 1951 to 1962 and “slow pitch” softball until retiring from sport in 1981.
In 1983. Maxene was inducted into the Kentucky Hall of Fame for her softball accomplishments. In 2001, in honor of her lifelong accomplishments, and dedication to the sports community, it was proclaimed a sports field at Beaver Creek Park be named the Maxene Underwood Field.
In 2009, Maxene was inducted into the Barren County Sports Hall of Fame, as well. She also had other interests. In 1951, Maxene competed in the Miss Farmers RECC beauty pageant. In that pageant she was named “Miss Farmers RECC” and moved on to the “Miss Kentucky Farmers RECC” pageant, where she was runner-up.
Visitation is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 3, 2022, at A.F. Crow Funeral Home, with graveside service conducted by Gary Bewley to follow at Glasgow Municipal Cemetery.

Joyce Dean Sharp Whitlow, 74, Glasgow
Joyce Dean Sharp Whitlow, 74, of Glasgow died Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2022, at her residence. She was born Oct. 24, 1948, in Glasgow to the late Melrose Lee Sharp and Doris Creek Sharp. Joyce was a graduate of Glasgow High School Class of 1966. She was a graduate of Southern Academy of Clinical Technology and was employed by several doctors in Glasgow. Joyce, along with her husband, Eddie, have been owners of Park Avenue Furniture for more than 50 years. She was a genuine people person that delighted in engaging in conversation with customers. In her spare time, she enjoyed boating, swimming, traveling, doll collecting and cheering on her favorite team, the Kentucky Wildcats. Her favorite days were those spent with her great-granddaughter, Zoe. She was a wonderful wife, daughter, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She could light up a room with her beautiful smile. She was so loved and will be greatly missed. Joyce was a member of South Green Church of Christ in Glasgow.
Joyce is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Eddie Whitlow; granddaughter, Taryn Dean Riddle; great-granddaughter, Zoe Kate Staples; son-in-law, James Vance; sister-in-law, Bonnie Whitlow Proffitt; numerous fond cousins; and best friends, Marilyn Barrick Jones and Charlotte Ferrell.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Dewey and Bessie Creek; paternal grandparents, Sylvester and Mamie Sharp; and her daughter, Melanie Whitlow Vance.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
Funeral service is at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 4, 2022, at A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home, with burial in Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation is 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
