Administrative staff, department heads and other roles for Barren County government were approved unanimously Tuesday morning by the newest iteration of the Barren County Fiscal Court.
The group of two returning and five new magistrates and new Judge-Executive Jamie Bewley Byrd met at 10:30 a.m. on the county’s first business day of 2023, as the first two calendar days fell on a Sunday and a holiday observance, respectively.
The staff appointments and hirings were one of two business items on the special-called meeting, with the names of the people, their positions and their salary information provided in advance, with the agenda. They are listed below.
The other primary agenda item was approval of a position change for the county attorney’s office.
County Attorney Mike Richardson, who is also new to his post, said after the meeting that the change is from a part-time position to full time for a receptionist/clerk role, so now they’ll have two full time county employees and two full-time state employees through the office.
Also after the meeting, Byrd said the county has a new Facebook page, “Barren County, Kentucky” and the Parks and Recreation Department will be setting up a new one.

The full Barren County Fiscal Court and associated officials attend their first meeting since their terms began Sunday. From left are Magistrates Jeff Botts, Derek Pedigo and Tim Durhan; County Treasurer Jenny Hoffman; Fiscal Court Clerk/Finance Officer Tammie Branstetter; Judge-Executive Jamie Bewley Byrd; County Attorney Mike Richardson; and Magistrates Tim Coomer, Marty Kinslow, Ronnie Stinson and Brad Groce.
