John Robert “Bobby” Coates
John Robert “Bobby” Coates, 65, of Park City died Monday, Jan. 16, 2023, at The Medical Center at Bowling Green. The Edmonson County native was born June 20, 1957, to the late Robert L. and Lottie Nash Coates.
Bobby constructed mausoleums for many years. He was a member of Fairview General Baptist Church and also attended Liberty Hill Missionary Baptist Church.
He leaves to honor his memory his daughter, Brandi N. Ginter (Josh) of Spring Creek, Nevada; grandchildren, Layne Nichole Irene Ginter and River William James Ginter; siblings, Ronald Coates of Park City, Donald Coates (Kathy) of Park City, Frances Ashley of Horse Cave, Helen Nester (Dave) of Park City, Mary Cutliff (Robert) of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, Linda Draper of Alabama and Patricia Toms (Stephen) of Glasgow. He was also preceded in death by grandchildren, Eve Anne Marie Ginter and Walker Gregory Robert Ginter; and his brother, James R. Coates.
A graveside service will be scheduled at a later date at Liberty Hill Church Cemetery.

Debbie Hunt Deckard, 73, of Glasgow died Monday, Jan. 16, 2023, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Columbus, Indiana, on Nov. 21, 1949, to Burl Hunt and the late Ruth Burgess Hunt and grew up on the farm in Lamb. She began her working career at Kentucky Pants and later retired from Sumitomo. Debbie was a faithful member of First Freewill Baptist Church and served in many capacities where she was known by many as Nanny. She loved her family dearly and was a devoted wife, mother, nanny, daughter, sister, and friend.
Survivors include Billy Deckard, her devoted and loving husband of 55 years; her daughter, Cindy Deckard Jackson (Shelton); her son, Kelly Deckard (Heather); her grandchildren, Nick Jackson (Megan), Will Jackson (Ellie), Hope Deckard, Gracey Kate Deckard, Addie Johnson, and Chloe Johnson; her father, Burl Hunt; two sisters, Connie Eaton and Ellen Headrick (Eddie); her brother, Freddie Hunt (Linda); and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws.
In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her grandparents, Jack and Mona Arterburn Hunt, Herschel and Effie Combs Burgess and brother-in-law, Wayne Eaton.
Funeral service is at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 20, 2023, at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home, with burial in Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday and on Friday morning until time for the service at the funeral home.

Edward Gustave Fox, 67, of Glasgow died Saturday, Jan. 14, 2023, at his residence. He was born Sept. 6, 1955, in Orlando, Florida, to the late Eugene Spencer Fox and Wanda Pauline Januszewski Fox. Edward was a former project manager at Tek Systems and was of the Christian faith. He loved history, aviation, and bird watching.
Survivors include his two sons, Chad Wesley Fox (Lauren) and Colby Fox (Kellie); four grandchildren, Chad, Taylor, Riley and Corban Fox; one sister, Paula Jean Fox; one brother, Eugene Fox; and one nephew, Mitchell Fox (Kara).
Memorial service is at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 20, 2023, at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home. Visitation is from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Cindy (Gibson) Ritchie, 61, Versailles, formerly Cave City

Cindy (Gibson) Ritchie, 61, of Versailles, and formerly of Cave City, died Saturday, Jan. 14, 2023, at University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington. Cindy was born July 18, 1961, a daughter of the late Charles Owen and Eva Jean (Geralds) Gibson. She graduated from Caverna High School in 1979 and retired from the Hart County Child Support Office in 2014. She enjoyed traveling, having seen all of the lower forty-eight, was always on the lookout for moose. She was an avid UK fan, but more than anything she enjoyed spending time with her granddaughters and the rest of her family.
She is survived by her daughter, Hailee Harless, and her husband Brandon of Cave City; fiancé, Ken Lawson of Versailles; two granddaughters, Emilia Jean and Evrily Rose; and one brother, Tim Gibson, and his wife Linda of Cave City. A host of extended-family members also survive.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Owen and Eva Jean (Geralds) Gibson.
Funeral service is at 6 p.m. Friday, Jan. 20, 2023, at Bob Hunt Funeral Chapel. Visitation is from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Jason Turner, 39, Glasgow

Jason Turner
Jason Turner, 39, of Glasgow died Thursday, Jan. 12, 2023, at T.J. Samson Community Hospital. Born in Conyers, Georgia, he was the son of Thomas Nightingale and Elizabeth Minnieman Hammons. He is survived by his life companion and the mother of his children, Ashley Smith. In life he enjoyed fishing, gardening and carving walking sticks. He was a septic tank repairman and self-employed carpenter.
Other survivors include his parents and his children, Johnathan Turner, Jaylen Turner and Melanie Turner, all of Glasgow; two sisters, Jennifer Myers and Tabatha Turner; and three brothers, Rusty Allen, Brandon Burkhead and Robert Turner, all of Georgia.
Memorial service is at 5 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 21, 2023, at Hatcher and Saddler Funeral Home. Visitation is from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. The family is honoring Jason’s wish to be cremated.
William ‘Bill’ Vien, 59, Glasgow

Bill Vien
William “Bill” Vien, 59, of Glasgow died Sunday, Jan. 15, 2023, at his residence. A native of Pittsfield, New Hampshire, he was the son of the late Alfred “Joe” Vien and Constance “Connie” Vien.
Bill was an avid outdoorsman. He loved fishing, hunting and hiking. He worked his dream job at Yosemite National Park for 10 years and then continued with the park service at Glacier National Park for another five years. He always had many stories to tell about his years with the park service and living in the high country of the mountains. His passions for the outdoors also led him to be an excellent gardener wherever he lived. He enjoyed growing both flowers and vegetables to share with others, eagerly awaiting the new plant catalogs every winter, and exploring new greenhouses every spring.
Bill also loved spending time with family and friends, and made the long trip home to New Hampshire as often as he could. He loved to play board games and card games, especially cribbage. He was a longtime member of the “Laughs a Lot” game group here in Glasgow.
Bill was an active member of First Christian Church in Glasgow, serving as a deacon. He was a graduate of the Education For Ministry program from the University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee, and went on to become a mentor for the program in 2008. His love of serving others led him to help start a food pantry ministry, “Loaves and Fishes” at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in 2006, and to the bring the ministry to First Christian Church in 2015, where it has flourished, helping families.
In 2007, Bill married the love of his wife, Barbara, who survives. Together they enjoyed fishing, travel, cooking and weekly cribbage games. Their strong, loving bond was evident to all who knew them. He was a great husband and had a generous spirit.
Besides his parents, Bill was preceded in death by two brothers, Alfred “Tiger” Vien and Todd Vien.
He is also survived by two brothers, Tabb Vien and Chris Vien; cousins, Tina Mayotte Metcalf (Roger), Tanya Mayotte Bitzas (Jimmy) and Jason Mayotte (Tammy); his loving aunt, Cynthia Mayotte; and many second and third cousins, whom he loved dearly.
