Virginia Lee Bell, 90, Glasgow
Virginia Lee Bell, 90, of Glasgow died Saturday, Jan. 14, 2023, at Antebellum Senior Living on Arlington in Macon, Georgia.
Due to unforeseen circumstances, the funeral services will be at a later date.

Shelby Louise Birge, 84, Temple Hill

Shelby Louise Birge, 84, of Temple Hill died Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2023, peacefully, surrounded by her loving family at her residence. She was born in Barren County, a daughter of the late Carson and Pearl Hale Capps. Shelby was a member of Temple Hill Baptist Church and retired from Barren County Schools as a cook for Temple Hill School.
She is survived by one son, Marcus Birge of Temple Hill; three daughters, Marla Irwin (David) of Glasgow, Sharon Mayhugh (Kevin) of Bowling Green and Amy Bartlett (Kevin) of Temple Hill; seven grandchildren, Anthony Irwin, A.J. Irwin, Ashley Prince, Cody Mayhugh, Cheyenne Cash, Kaley Smith and Zachary Korte; five great-grandchildren, Bentley and Elijah Irwin, Clayton and Olivia Prince and Everly Mayhugh; one sister, Judy Pedigo of Westmoreland, Tennessee; and one son-in-law, Brad Korte of Glasgow.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Vickie Korte; one grandson, Jonathan Irwin; two great-grandsons, Mason Tucker Irwin and Eli Nathaniel Irwin; and one brother, John Richard Capps.
Funeral service is at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 21, 2023, at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home, with burial in Poplar Log Cemetery. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and from Saturday morning until time for the service at the funeral home.

E.J. Claywell, 85, Glasgow

E.J. Claywell

E.J. Claywell, 85, of Glasgow died Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2023, at T.J. Samson Community Hospital. A native of Cumberland County, he was a son of the late Robert and Elva Easter Claywell. He was a retired heat treat operator at SKF and later RBC. He had attended Temple Baptist Church and was a U.S. Army veteran.
Survivors include one daughter, Sandra Vernon (Terry Gentry); two grandchildren, Shelly Smith (Bryan) and Chris Jennings (Whitney Fletcher); three great-grandchildren, Haley Smith, Carson Jennings and Madison Fletcher; two brothers, Nyman Claywell (Betty) and Gary Claywell (Polly), all of Glasgow; one sister, Eloise Veach of Louisville; a special friend, Clifton Elmore of Glasgow; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mallie Jean Keys; one grandson, William Scott Jennings; three brothers; and two sisters.
Funeral service is at 2 p.m. Saturday at Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home, with burial with military honors provided by DAV Chapter 20 in Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation begins at 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Glendon Daryl Payne, 54, Nashville

Glendon Payne

Glendon Daryl Payne, 54, died of natural causes during his sleep at his home in Nashville on Jan. 9, 2023. He was born in Barren County, a son of the late Russell Payne and Ruth Arterburn Payne, who survives.
He was a 1986 graduate of Barren County High School and a 1995 graduate of Western Kentucky University. He was employed as an accountant at Centerstone Mental Health Service in Nashville and was well respected by those with whom he worked.
Daryl was an avid fan of both UK and WKU athletics. He loved the Smoky Mountains, Renfro Valley, the Lincoln Jamboree and flea markets. He always looked forward to spending Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays with his family. He was of the Baptist faith. He had a kind heart and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his companion of 17 years, Pamela McMurry.
He is survived by his daughter, Leah Nicole Payne; her mother, Adria Harris; a half brother, Gary Doyel, and wife Ann of Barren County; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, and cousins.
Cremation was chosen. A celebration of life or graveside service at Poplar Log Cemetery will be held at a later date.

Edgar Thomas Witcher, 74, of Smiths Grove died Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2023, at T.J. Samson Community Hospital. He was born Aug. 25, 1948, in Barren County to the late Sydney Edgar Witcher and Estella Isabell Tarry Witcher. Edgar was self-employed and a member of New Beginnings Baptist Church.
Survivors include his loving wife, Nancy Witcher; one son, Michael Witcher (Penny) of Smiths Grove; one daughter, Laura Batey (Ronald) of Glasgow; four grandchildren, Shannon Brown, Bethany Witcher (Mercedes), Philip Batey (Ariel) and Aaron Batey (Lacey); 12 great-grandchildren, Connor, Lilly, Liam, and Eric Brown, Nevaeh, Ember, Tyrion, Hartlee, Kutter, Jameson, and Stetson Batey and Mannie Padilla; one sister, Lucy Jewell; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Louise Parker, Anna Pearl Groce and Rebecca Baine.
Funeral service is at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 22, 2023, at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home, with burial in Shiloh Cemetery. Visitation is from noon to 8 p.m. Saturday and on Sunday morning until time for the service at the funeral home.
