Richard Allen Bastanchury

Richard Allen Bastanchury, 54, of Glasgow died Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2023, at Norton Healthcare in Louisville. Richard was born in Las Vegas, Nevada, on March 26, 1968, a son of the late Larry Allen Bastanchury, and Nancy Aldene Calhoon. He graduated from Las Vegas High School and enjoyed cooking.
In addition to his mother, Nancy Aldene Cooper, he is survived by a son, Wesley Bastanchury, both of Las Vegas, Nevada; two sisters, Lisa Bunnell of Glasgow and Ronda Wellman and husband Ron of Las Vegas; a brother, Chad Bastanchury of Las Vegas; six nieces, Ashley Curtis, Courtney Lee, Jessica Lenhardt, Christena Bastanchury, Amanda Lee and Savannah Brah; and two nephews, Kevin Jacques and Christopher Bastanchury.
He was preceded in death by his father, Larry Allen Bastanchury.
In honoring Richard’s wishes, cremation was chosen with no services scheduled at this time.
Bob Hunt Funeral Chapel is entrusted with arrangements.

John William ‘Billy’ Compton Jr., 71, Glasgow
John William “Billy” Compton Jr., 71, of Glasgow died Friday, Feb. 10, 2023, at his residence. A native of Barren County, he was the son of the late John William Compton Sr. and Amanda Ruth Smith Compton. He was a retired truck driver for Houchens Industries and a lover of the guitar and playing music.
Survivors include two sons, Adam Compton (Nicole) and Benjamin Compton (Cara), both of Bowling Green; five grandchildren, Annie Compton, Aiden Compton, Presley Compton, Lincoln Compton and Everly Compton; a good friend and caregiver, Jeffrey “Bobo” Long; and aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral service is at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 18, 2023, at Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home, with burial in Happy Valley Memorial Gardens. Visitation is 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Roy Jackson ‘R.J.’ Howard, 84, Glasgow

Roy Jackson “R.J.” Howard, 84, of Glasgow died Saturday, Febr. 11, 2023, at NHC Healthcare Center. A native of Monroe County, he was a son of the late Andrew Jackson Howard and Ruth Tyree Howard.
R.J. was a retired service manager with 36 years of service for the Clark Beverage Group, a distributor of Coca-Cola products. He loved farming and was an avid fan of University of Kentucky basketball and NASCAR. He was a member of Southside Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Sue Nuckols Howard; one daughter, Teresa Bull (David) of Glasgow; one son Roy Howard (Cherie) of Glasgow; four grandchildren, Ben Bull (Marsha) of Elizabethtown, Eric Bull (Heather) and Dylan Howard (Amelia) of Bowling Green, and Dymie Carroll (Hunter) of Glasgow; six great-grandchildren, Teddy Bull, Luke Bull, Leia Bull, Reese Bull, Houston Bull and Ty Carroll; one sister, Charlotte Haley of Glasgow; one brother, Tommy Howard of Tompkinsville; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Marjorie McWherter and Ann Smith.
Funeral service is at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2023, at Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home, with burial in Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and continues Wednesday morning at the funeral home.
Alternate expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Southside Baptist Church Building Fund, 1163 Trojan Trail, Glasgow, KY 42141.
