PRESS RELEASE
Glasgow Fire Department was dispatched to 20 Prestwick Drrive, Nemak at 2:27 a.m. Friday for a chlorine leak. Nemak advised no injuries and the building had been evacuated but they suspected that it was still leaking.
Upon arrival GFD personnel spoke with facility personnel, and they advised that the emergency shut off had been activated. A crew from GFD made their way to the chlorine room while the Incident commander went to the security desk to monitor a camera that was in the room. Upon inspection, the crew in the chlorine room advised that the chlorine tank was off and that there had been a minimal leak.
Both the chlorine room and the entire plant was ventilated to ensure the residual chlorine could dissipate. Glasgow Fire Department completed a plant walk through to monitor the air quality, and all was good. All Glasgow units then cleared the scene and returned the plant back to company personnel.
Glasgow Fire Department was on the scene for less than two hours and was assisted by Barren-Metcalfe EMS and Glasgow-Barren County Emergency Management. No injuries were reported, and the Incident was reported with the state.
