Park City’s city commission on Monday authorized the mayor to begin negotiating a possible purchase of a property that was recently condemned.
Mayor Larry Poteet said Tuesday via phone that the condition of the house on the property is such that it would have to be demolished, and once it’s cleared away, the city could possibly sell the lot to recoup some of its costs.
That vote, along with all the others, was unanimous with all members present, he said.
Also during the meeting, the commission approved a proposal from the Barren River Area Development District for grant writing services for a flat amount of $2,000 per year, to be paid in quarterly installments, he said.
Poteet said they also authorized him to purchase a handicapped accessible picnic table for Bell’s Tavern Park for approximately $1,200.
Other discussions included a request for the city to sponsor a pancake breakfast that would be part of the Barren County Quasquibicentennial Celebration in September. Poteet said there was some concern about whether the city entity could legally do that, so he planned to speak with the city’s attorney about it.
In addition to hearing the standard reports, the commission also considered the two quotes received for resealing and striping Mammoth Cave Avenue, the mayor said, but they decided to wait to allow a third party that had expressed interest to submit a quote.
