Lucy Lindsey, 82, Glasgow

Lucy Lindsey
Lucy Jewell Witcher Groce Lindsey, 82, of Glasgow died May 17, 2023, at Vanderbilt Trauma Center in Nashville, Tennessee, due to an automobile accident. She was known to many as Moma Jewell or Granny Jewell. She loved her family and taught us all to love, support and care for each other. We all are better people for knowing such a God-fearing woman.
After 26 years at Mallory’s, she worked at Johnson Controls for years. As she transitioned into retirement, she got to enjoy her many hobbies. So many memories were made in the kitchen with her. She was such an amazing cook and she loved to feed everybody and helped when she was needed. She had a God-given talent for sewing and quilting. Over the years, she became well known for the hundreds of hours she put into quilting – creating beautiful quilts that were a blessing to many. She also went on several missionary trips to Honduras to help spread the word of God and show these people love. She had a life well lived and will always be remembered as a woman of God. She was of the Baptist faith and a member at Shiloh Baptist Church. She was a faithful soldier of God.
Jewell loved her family, but she loved God more. She always was quick to tell you about his love and how he will never leave you. As she entered the pearly white gates, she was probably singing “That Glad Reunion Day,” with that strong voice and a smile from ear to ear. She loved her kids and not only birth children, all people. She loved to travel and make sweet memories with her family and friends, camping, lying on the beach or one place near and dear to her heart, the Great Smoky Mountains. She loved her daughters, sons, grandkids, great-grandkids, and great-great-grandkids and, because of them, her beautiful legacy will live on. Heaven surely gained a beautiful angel.
Survivors include three daughters and one son, Patsy (Billy) Gore, Ginger (Rick) Richardson, Donna (Garry) Jarvis and Tyler Hester; five grandkids, Robert Gore, Brandon (Deppie) Groce, Clifton-CJ (Tashia) Jarvis, Lacey (Eric) Roy and Kendra (Dustin) Cross; 17 great-grandkids, Alyssa Gore, Larissa Gore, Malachi Gore, Hayley Groce, Austin Roy, JayLeigh Cross, Sierra Roy, Brianna Jarvis, Jaycee Jarvis, Lynnsey Cross, Cambren Jarvis, Lillian Groce, Macie Cross, KarLei Jarvis, Destiny Groce, Paityn Cross and Harper Jarvis; one great-great-grandson, Azarith Gore; one sister-in-law, Nancy Witcher; multiple nieces, nephews, cousins; her church family at Shiloh General Baptist; four stepkids, David (Donna) Lindsey, Gerald Lindsey, Jonathan Lindsey and Cheryl Ross; nine stepgrandkids; 11 step-great-grandkids; and two stepgreat-great-grandkids.
