Bucky Bee’s BBQ, in Cave City, will be featured on an upcoming episode of Guy Fieri’s “All American Roadtrip.”
“My wife got an e-mail out of the blue asking if we wanted to be on the Guy Fieri show, so she called me — of course, we get e-mail’s like that all the time — and we were just like whatever, sure,” co-owner of Bucky Bee’s BBQ, De’Lynn Buckingham, said of how the ball started rolling on being featured on the show.
“So we responded, and after a couple calls, we talked about what we cook and how we cook it,” Buckingham laughed. “We were still waiting for them to ask for our credit card number.”
“Once we found out it was legit, we started to get legit with them,” he said. “I talked to four different people starting with an executive director, then a president of operations, but when it came down to it, I talked to Guy himself.”
The film crew normally will close down the restaurant on shooting days, but due to time constraints, changes had to be made to accommodate the production team. Rather than using the Cave City location of the restaurant, the production team wanted to shoot at an outdoor locale and requested that the Bucky’s team use their food truck, which has mostly served as an advertising tool recently with the growing business, Buckingham said.
“So finally I got to talk to the director, Steve, and he made sure without a doubt that we had our location,” Buckingham said. “We took all of our best staff with us, and the team said ‘well that’s too many, Guy won’t go for that’ so, what we did was we went back to roots it was me, my wife, my son and his wife, and two of my daughters.”
“When Guy got there, we had maybe 30 minutes with him, he was nice, he was being pulled in a lot of directions though,” he said.
The “Guy’s All American Roadtrip” with Bucky Bee’s will air June 2 at 8 p.m. on the Food Network.
