The mother and daughter accused of killing Michael “Mickey” O. Logsdon, their husband and father, respectively, in July appeared in Barren Circuit Court on Monday for a pretrial conference in the case.
Both Donna Logsdon and Cheryl Bennett are charged with murder.
Defense attorney Johnny Bell spoke to Circuit Judge John T. Alexander inaudibly once all parties were at the bench, and Alexander suggested they all step out of the courtroom briefly for an off-the-record discussion, which they did. Upon returning, Alexander said they had some procedural matters that needed to be addressed, so he suggested rescheduling the court appearance for July 31, to which all agreed.
Bell asked that the court consider removing the ankle monitor and ceasing the drug-testing requirement for Logsdon, as she had no history of trouble, and the special prosecutors from the Kentucky attorney general’s office, Jason Rothrock and Eric Finke, did not object, so the judge agreed to order it so.
Both defendants have been out on bond, but Bennett recently had to go back to jail for 30 days after she had a positive drug test and was scheduled for release on Monday in time for her court appearance.
