On Monday, May 22, just before 5:30 p.m., Kentucky State Police Post 3 Bowling Green was requested by the Barren County Sheriff’s Office to investigate a fatal collision in Barren County. Troopers responded to the scene of the collision located on Edmonton Road at Veterans Outer Loop in Glasgow.
Preliminary investigation indicates that Barren County Deputy Michael Stevenson was traveling on Edmonton Road while responding to an active complaint with emergency equipment activated. While negotiating the intersection at Veterans Outer Loop, Deputy Stevenson’s emergency vehicle was struck in the passenger side by a 2003 Nissan Frontier. The operator of the Nissan, William H. Osborn, 63, of Glasgow, was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Barren County Coroner’s Office. Deputy Stevenson and passenger, Deputy Hunter Carroll, were both transported to T.J. Samson Hospital where they were treated for minor injuries.
The investigation is being led by the Critical Incident Response Team. They were assisted at the scene by Barren County EMS, Barren County Sheriff’s Office, Barren County Coroner, and KSP personnel.
