Bobby Allen

Bobby J. Allen, 67, of Glasgow died Monday, June 5, 2023, at Chandler Health Hospital in Lexington. He was a son of the late Betty Bacon Birge. He worked at Akebono in Glasgow.
He is survived by his son, Spencer Allen
Besides his mother, he was preceded in death by one brother, David Ray Birge.
Visitation is from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, June 9, 2023, at Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home, with cremation to follow.

Oris Eugene “Gene” Basil, 84, of Glasgow died Tuesday, June 6, 2023, at the NHC health care center. He was a son of the late Oris Stanford Basil and Nellie Walden Basil. He was a U.S. Army veteran.
He is survived by his children, Sherry Combs (Bobby), Rita Shaw, Jeffery Basil, Sherry Ballard, Tina Shugart (Jimmy), Tracy Matthews (Luke), Devona Smith (David), Eric Bullington (Linda), Jason Simmons (Rekita), Crystal Simmons and Shyanna Bullington; five grandchildren, Chris Combs, Kara Basil, Casey Basil, Katie Reece and Tiffany Shaw; and several great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife: Fannie Rosetta Kerney Basil; one grandson, Teddy Ray Shaw; four brothers, Leroy Basil, Troy Basil, Ray Basil and James Basil; and four sisters, Bertha Matthews, Margie Houchens, Virginia Bunell and Deloris Sexton.
Funeral is at 1 p.m. Monday, June 12, 2023, at Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home, with burial in Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation is from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday and after 9 a.m. Monday until time for services.

Madge Britt

Madge Walker Britt, 93, of Glasgow died peacefully Sunday, June 4, 2023, at Shanti Niketan Hospice Home in Glasgow, where she received exceptional care from the nurses and staff who became like family during her stay.
Madge was born Oct. 12,1929, in Adair County to the late Leonard and Mayne Walker. She was a graduate of Lindsey Wilson College and Western Kentucky University and began her teaching career in Adair County at the age of 19. In 1954, she married Loyd Geralds Britt, who preceded her in death in 2022. She continued her teaching career in Barren County Schools, retiring in 1987. Following retirement, she enjoyed caring for her grandchildren, quilting and cooking.
Madge was a member of Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church.
She is survived by her three children, Loyd Britt Jr. (Judy), Ann Herald and Tim Britt (Vicki); her grandchildren, Loyd Douglas Britt (Megan), Jordan Crain (Daniel), Jessica Britt, Thomas Britt, Ashley Lile (Matt), Angie Gilliam (Bobby), and Stacy Oaks; and great+grandchildren, Trayce Crain, Brayden Crain, Bennett Crain, Kenzie Lile, Macy Lile, Matthew Stephens (Danielle), Ryan Stephens and Bryan Stephens; several nieces and nephews; and special friend and caregiver, Frankie Bradley.
Besides her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her eight siblings, Chick Walker, Russell Walker, Dorothy Lynch, Rebecca Estes, Ruth Pendleton, Willie Pendleton, Mabel Sexton and Peggy Burden; and a son-in-law, Kenneth Herald.
Funeral service is at 1 p.m. Friday, June 9, 2023, at A.F. Crow & Funeral Home, with burial in Happy Valley Memorial Gardens. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday and continues Friday morning until time of service. Her son, Bro. Tim Britt, and Bro. Tim Eaton are officiating the service.
The family requests that alternate expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to Shanti Niketan Hospice Home in Glasgow or St. Jude’s Research Hospital.
