Etta Jane Kinslow Garrett died peacefully June 12, 2023, surrounded by her family. Jane was born Feb. 20, 1942, to the late William Garland Kinslow and Alma Mary Moran Kinslow. She was the sixth child of their union. She married William Royce Garrett in December 1965.
She was preceded in death by her siblings, Kathryn Witcher (Grayson), Bernice Williams (Earl D) and LeRoyce (Frances), Emery (Ramona) and Eldon Clay Kinslow. She leaves behind her husband; her daughters, Alma Jo Fox (Thomas), Robin Gilbert Martin and Candi Norris; one brother, Lem (Linda) Kinslow! six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and her faithful dogs, Gigi and Shorty, who stayed by her side.
Jane was the shoe department manager for Watson’s during its time in Glasgow. She was of the Baptist faith and loved Southern gospel music. Her beautiful smile will be greatly missed by all who knew her. The family is very grateful and blessed to have had the Hosparus staff aiding our beloved mother’s wishes to remain in her home until her final day. She got her desire to stay home for the duration of her decline in health, thanks to the excellent care of her daughter Candi and granddaughter Savannah.
Funeral is at 2 p.m. Friday, June 16, 2023, at Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home, with burial in Happy Valley Memorial Gardens. Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
