Glasgow High School introduced it’s new principal Friday in the school’s auditorium. The new principle, Joey Norman, brings a wealth of experience to the role, having previously served as the principal for Warren Central High School.

“Mr. Norman’s innovative approach to education, and his commitment to ensuring that all students are given the support and resources they need to succeed made him an easy choice for the role,” said Dr. Chad Muhlenkamp, superintendent for Glasgow Independent Schools.

The School-Based Decision Making Board had several candidates in mind, but with his background, Norman stood out from the other candidates.

“He is like the cream that rises to the top, we have an individual who comes with 19 years of experience, four years of assistant principle experience, four as principle, and experience as a teacher,” Muhlenkamp said.

The Glasgow High School faculty and staff are equally enthusiastic about Norman’s appointment.

“I think we are all thrilled to have Mr. Norman join the team,” said Heather Berube, GHS lead cheerleading coach. “He brings a lot of experience and knowledge to the role, and I look forward to see what he can bring to GHS.”

Norman is set to take over from the school’s previous principal, Dr. Amy Compton. She was announced by Bardstown Independent Schools earlier in the week as the new principal at that district’s high school.

“I am thrilled to be joining the team at Glasgow High School, and I am looking forward to working with the staff, students, and parents to continue to build on the school’s successes,” Norman said. “I believe that every student deserves the opportunity to reach their full potential, and I am committed to making sure that happens here at Glasgow.”

Norman said that he will start his official duties on July 1.

“My goal is to be in here over the next couple of weeks getting to know people and getting to know the lay of the land and to be able to make my imprint here at Glasgow High School. As Dr. Muhlenkamp said, ‘It’s a great day to be a Scottie,’” Norman said at the press conference.
