The Barren County Fair is celebrating 69 years of delighting visitors from across Kentucky. The Temple Hill Lions Club, a local non-profit that is completely reliant on volunteerism, uses the fair as its primary fundraiser.
The fair is at the Temple Hill Fairgrounds at 10168 Ky.63 each June, and offers a variety of activities for families and individuals, including beauty pageants, truck and tractor pulls, as well as multiple carnival rides.
Wrestling will anchor Tuesday night’s events. Competitors with Ultimate Championship Wrestling will entertain at 7:30 p.m with the headline fight being between Chris Michael, a five-time UCW heavyweight champion in Kentucky, and Adrian Alexander.
Tuesday will also feature a “Catfish Wranglin” competition, which anyone over the age of 15 can enter with a chance to win $300. As the name implies, contestants are put into a pool of knee high water two at a time, and the contestant who catches the catfish is the winner.
The fair begins Tuesday, June 27, and will run through Saturday. Admission Tuesday through Thursday is $10, while Friday and Saturday tickets are $15 with rides opening at 6 p.m. each night.
Sales will go directly to Temple Hill Lions Club to help further their goal of improving the community.
