Scooter’s Coffee, a Nebraska-based specialty drink shop, is scheduled to open in the corner of the South Gate Plaza parking lot in Glasgow.

“We chose to bring the Scooter’s concept to Glasgow because we felt there was an unmet demand for high-quality, specialty coffee in the Glasgow area,” Scooter’s press release stated.

Aubre Stephens, who handles sales and marketing for Five Star Hospitality, said the coffee shop is planning to open on Sept. 26 of this year, after roughly 12-14 weeks of construction.

The location will be relatively small as it will be drive through only, occupying only 664 square feet.

According to the Scooter’s website, the menu includes hot, cold and blended coffee drinks as well as smoothies and hot teas.

Stephens said, Scooter’s has hired the management group and will begin the process of hiring employees for the new location by the end of August.

The total number of coffee shops in Glasgow currently is five: King’s Cafe, Southern Cup, AJ’s Place, Fine Arts Bistro and Dunkin.

According to the lease agreement, recorded by the Barren County clerk, the initial term of the lease is 10 years, as of May 2, 2023, with the option to “extend the original lease term” four separate times of 5 years.

According to the company website, the franchise is also opening a location in Bowling Green. Until those locations are built, the closest Scooter’s is in Tennessee, where there are four around Nashville, six located in and around Louisville and one in Owensboro.

Scooter’s Coffee was founded in 1988 by Dan and Linda Eckles in Bellevue, Nebraska, when they opened their first drive through coffee house.
