Robert Garner Simpson Jr., 79, died Wednesday, July 12, 2023 at University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center in Lexington.
He was a son of the late Robert Garner Simpson Sr. and Ida Bell Cyphers Simpson. He was born Feb. 15, 1944, in Columbia and later moved to Glasgow. He retired from the U.S. Department of Agriculture Farm Service Agency in 2006 as chief program specialist.
He is survived by is wife of 47 years, Judy Spurling Simpson; three children, Lynn (Jimmy) Harlow, Scott Simpson and Ann (Scott) Proffitt; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; one sister, Sharon Denham (Harold); and one brother, Tony Simpson (Lynn).
Graveside service was Sunday, July 16, 2023, at Glasgow Municipal Cemetery following a visitation at Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home.

Carla Faye Smith, 59, of Glasgow died Sunday, July 9, 2023. She was a loving mother to Crystal Elizabeth Faye Doyle (Ricky), a loving grandmother to Richard Lee Graham III, and a close companion with her lifelong partner and father of her daughter, Rondal Lee Doyle.
Carla was of Baptist faith. She spent her time adoring her daughter and grandson and loving her family and friends. We mourn our loss but celebrate and rejoice in the life of our “Carfaye.”
In addition to her daughter, grandson, and life partner, she is survived by her siblings, William Smith, Hazel Witcher (Barry) and Betty Pertuis; two nieces, Windy Dubree (Jerell) and Rebecca Fish-Maraz (Mauricio); nephew Danny Fish; a handful of great-nephews and -nieces; and several beloved friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Wick and Ruth Stephens Smith; three sisters, Mary Jane Smith, Pauline Ann Davis, Alice Marie Hamill; brother, Wick Smith Jr. ; two nephews, Danny William Smith and Billy Carla Smith.
An intimate funeral service took place privately at Hatcher and Saddler Funeral Home on Friday July 14, 2023, with burial in Camp Ground Cemetery. The family appreciates your love, support, thoughts and prayers.
