Barren County constable for District 7, Joseph Ramey, was arrested Friday, July 28, by the Kentucky State Police on six charges.
The charges include first degree wanton endangerment, “impersonating a peace officer,” first degree “official misconduct,” following an emergency vehicle too closely, failure to give right-of-way to an emergency vehicle and “using flashing lights and sirens on a non-emergency vehicle.”
According to the Hardin County Detention Center website, Ramey’s inmate classification is listed as “felony charges.” Currently, there is no bond amount or a court date set for Ramey.
Ramey was the Republican candidate for constable District 7 in 2022. He beat out Democratic challenger Charles Benham with 829 votes to Benham’s 511 votes.
On Jan. 1, 2023 Ramey was charged with fourth degree assault and first degree unlawful imprisonment when officers responded to a domestic violence complaint on Cranbrook Drive where they said Ramey got into a verbal fight that lead to Ramey “assaulting the female victim, handcuffing her and holding her against her will.”
