With all nine members present, the.Glasgow Common Council on Monday unanimously approved its one action item other than agreeing on the agenda and minutes of the last meeting.
That item was a resolution declaring as surplus some property of the Department of Public Works. The items include several types of vehicles and heavy machinery and a few smaller items. All the items have been replaced with newer equipment, so these were redundant.
Also on the agenda was the administration of the oath of office for Mason Wethingon, administered by Mayor Henry Royse, for his promotion to sergeant at the Glasgow Police Department, where he’s worked since 2016.
The council members also received copies of several executive orders relating to changes in the GPD standard operating procedures and policies that had been approved by the mayor. They were for notification purposes only, as they do not require council approval. Royse also has provided the required two-week notice of his intended reappointment of Rossie Kingery to the Glasgow Code of Ethics Committee for another three year term that will be before the council for consideration at its next regular meeting.
Topic areas of the GPD SOP changes and the links to those documents are as follow:
— Motor Vehicle Stops and Searches,
— Off Duty Action,
— Audits and Inspections,
— Secondary Employment,
— Foot Pursuit, and
— Property Room Evidence Management.
The next regular meeting is at 6 p.m. Aug. 28 in Council Chambers on the second floor of Glasgow City Hall, 126 E. Public Square.
