Jean McCubbin Craighead

Jean McCubbin Craighead, 95, of Cave City died Aug. 19, 2023. She was born April 16, 1928, in Campbellsville. Jean was a dedicated wife, mother, and teacher, known for her creative talents and love for her family.
Jean was a skilled seamstress and knitter, often making clothes for her family when her children were young. She also delighted her children with beautifully decorated cakes and was known for her delicious cooking. Every year, she would can grape jelly, showcasing her culinary skills.
In her career, Jean taught home economics in Ohio and Hiseville, Kentucky, before becoming a junior high school teacher for Caverna Independent Schools for 15 years. Her passion for education and nurturing her students made her a beloved teacher in the community. She had a smile and kind word for everyone she met.
Jean received her primary education at Yancy Elementary School and graduated from Harlan High School, where she was valedictorian. She furthered her education by earning her bachelor’s degree in home economics at Western Kentucky State College.
Jean had a rich and fulfilling life outside of her career and family responsibilities. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, reading, cooking and even square dancing. These hobbies brought her joy and allowed her to express her creativity. She was a member of Cave City Baptist Church for many years.
Jean’s kind and loving nature will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. She leaves behind a legacy of warmth, creativity and dedication.
Jean is survived by her daughters, Anne Honaker (husband Michael Honaker) and Sarah Craighead (husband Rick Shireman); her son, John Craighead (wife Gail Craighead); grandchildren, Matt Honaker, Kate Honaker Morganett and Jamie Froggett; and great-grandchildren, Avery Morganett, Ashton Morganett, Austin Morganett, Linus Honaker, Albie Honaker and Preston Sitko.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Delmous Craighead, and great-grandson, Dustin Morganett II.
Service is at. noon Tuesday, Aug. 22, 2023, at Bob Hunt Funeral Chapel. Visitation is from 10 a.m. to noon Friday at the funeral home.

Danny Dale Deckard, 63, of Glasgow died Aug. 19, 2023, at T.J. Samson Community Hospital. He was a son of Joe Ann Deckard Young (Billy) and the late Fred Thomas Deckard. He was employed by Magna Metals for many years in Bowling Green and was a Marine veteran and a member of Bethel Independent Baptist Church.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Deborah Ferrell Deckard; one son, Justice Deckard (Brittany); one stepdaughter, Cori Ortiz; one stepson Christopher Ferrell; two stepgrandsons, Tim and Nick Guess;
and one brother, David Deckard.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by one brother, Michael Deckard.
Funeral service is at 2 p.m. Wednesday Aug. 23, 2023, at Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home, with burial in Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation begins after 4 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Joe Dunning, 66, of Indianapolis, Indiana, died Friday Aug. 18, 2023, at his residence. Joe was born April 29, 1957, to the late Paul Dunning and the late Nina Faye (Holford) Dunning.
He is survived by his sister, Rita Stephens; brother, Eddie Paul Dunning; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral service is at 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 25, 2023, at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home, with burial in Marrowbone Cemetery. Visitation is from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Darrell Glenn Perkins, 65, of Smiths Grove died on Thursday, Aug. 17, 2023, at Barren County Nursing and Rehab. Born in Louisville on July 26, 1958, he was the son of the late Rondal “Red” and Dorothy Bray Perkins.
A proud 1976 graduate of Metcalfe County High School, Darrell’s life was marked by his passions and achievements. He was an avid golfer, treasuring every moment on the greens. He carried the spirit of the University of Kentucky Wildcats in his heart, cheering for them come rain or shine. A member of Ducks Unlimited, Darrell’s love for nature extended to fishing and hunting. Even in the quiet of his home, one could find him immersed in the tales of the Old West, watching westerns.
Professionally, he dedicated years of service as an employee of Kentucky Pants No. 2, Sumitomo and Dart. In his later years, he generously gave his time as a volunteer at Park Avenue Pharmacy. Upon retiring at the age of 62, Darrell embraced the joys of spending quality time with family and, of course, more golfing.
His life was full of dedication, passion and love. Darrell Glenn Perkins will be remembered not just for his achievements but for the warmth, laughter, and happiness he brought into the lives of everyone he knew. The memories he has left behind will be cherished and celebrated by all who had the privilege to know him.
He leaves behind a legacy of love and fond memories, survived by his sister, Rita (Greg) of Glasgow; niece, Shawna (Thom) Felkins of Lexington; nephew, Cameron (Mollie) Felkins and great-nephew, Miller Lane Felkins of Glasgow; uncle, Jesse (Carole) Bray of Manchester, Tennessee; aunts, Linda Bray of Glasgow and Robbie Jo Perkins of Spokane, Washington; and several cherished cousins and friends.
Alongside his parents and loving grandparents, Darrell was preceded in death by his uncle, William Paul Bray.
Funeral service is at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 22, 2023, at Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home, with burial in Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation begins at 3 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
