During the performance of The Steel Woods on Aug. 25 in front of the Glasgow City Hall, members of Barren Inc. announced the theme for the annual Glasgow Christmas Parade, scheduled for Dec. 2 at 6 p.m.
In years prior the theme for the parade has been “Aloha Christmas” in 2022, “Peace on Earth” in 2021 and “I’ll be home for Christmas” in 2019. The 2020 parade was cancelled due to the pandemic. This year’s theme is “Hometown Christmas.”
“This old fashioned and classic theme aims to bring a sense of nostalgia, community spirit, a celebration of togetherness, and tradition to the festivities this year,” Barren Inc.’s Facebook post states.
In years past, the parade began at the Glasgow High School went down Columbia Avenue and around the Square before heading down South Green Street. The parade has alway elicited big turnout from the community as residents would line the route with blankets, lawn chairs and occasionally their car trunks, all to see the brightly-colored floats and school bands make their way through the cold, crisp December night. Currently, this year is expected to be no different.
Applications for entry into the parade will be available on the Barren Inc. website starting on Oct. 1.
