Members of the Quasquibicentennial committee give award to oldest woman in Barren County

Elizabeth Cary, 102, seated, is presented a certificate for being the oldest woman in Barren County by Jessica Crabtree (right) and Linda Hunt at NHC Healthcare in Glasgow on Sept. 6. Cary was born on June 2, 1921 in Barren County, Ky. She lived in her family home on New Bowling Green Road near where Wright Implements stands today. She worked as a teller at Citizens National Bank until she retired. She was unable to be at the opening ceremony scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 7, where Ed Smith, the oldest man in the county, and the longest married couple will receive their respective awards.
