George Davis

George R. Davis

George Reeves Davis, 96, of Glasgow died Thursday, Sept. 14, 2023, at Signature Health Care surrounded by loved ones. George was born March 10, 1927, in Hermitage Springs, Tennessee, to the late Brit Davis and late Vera Lee (Reeves) Davis. George was a faithful member of Glasgow Baptist Church.
George was a World War II veteran. After his time spent in the military, he spent his career as manager of J.J. Newberry’s in Glasgow until it closed, and he then worked parttime at George J’s.
He is survived by his nieces, Patricia Mosby, Jackie Kingrey (Ronnie) and Peggy Hiser (Ray), all of Glasgow, and Sharon Reeves (Jim) of Charleston, Indiana.
In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by five brothers, two sisters, and the love of his life, Ruby Harlan.
Funeral service is at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 16, 2023, at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home, with burial in Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation is from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Christopher Froedge, 44, of Glasgow died Thursday, Sept. 14, 2023, at his residence. He was born in Burkesville on Oct. 30, 1978, to Billy and Vickie (Coffey) Froedge. Chris loved softball, fishing and golf. He was married to his wife of 24 years, Donna Froedge.
In addition to to his wife and parents, survivors include three daughters, Lauren Perkins (Nathan), Madison Froedge (Drake Neal) and Autumn Willis (Bailey); two grandchildren, Ayden and Asher; three brothers, Joe Billy Froedge, Mike Froedge and Mike Perkins; two sisters, Karen Froedge and Melissa Simpson; his friend he considered a brother, Tracy Smith (Mandi); and several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
Funeral service is at 1 p.m. Monday, Sept. 18, 2023, at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home, with burial in Summer Shade Cemetery. Visitation is from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday and continues Monday morning at the funeral home.

Murrell Johnson

Murrell Johnson

Murrell Johnson, 77, of Rocky Hill died Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2023, at TriStar Centennial Hospital in Nashville, Tennessee. The Barren County native was born Oct. 6, 1945, to the late Jimmy Lawrence and Grace Hope Johnson. He was married to Judy Carol Johnson, until they were parted by her death on July 5, 2015.
Murrell was self-employed and owned and operated Murrell Johnson Construction for many years. He was an avid horseback rider, and was a member of Cedar Springs Community Church.
He leaves to honor his memory three children, Dewayne Johnson (Alicia) of Naples, Florida, Cherie Howard (Roy) of Glasgow and Nicholas Johnson (Megan) of Cincinnati, Ohio; five grandchildren, Dylan Howard (Amelia), Ariana Whitt (Tanner), Dymie Carroll (Hunter), Ashton Johnson and Aiden Johnson; tein great-grandchildren Ty Carroll and Murlene McCoy.
Murrell was preceded in death by his siblings, Elizabeth Williams, Andrew Johnson, Charles Johnson, Ailene Beck, Marie Gregory, Frances “Bunny” Kemble and Maurice Johnson.
Funeral service is at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 17, 2023, at Cedar Springs Community Church, with interment in Lambert Cemetery. Visitation is from 3 to 7 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Patton Funeral Home Park City Chapel.

‘Mitch’ McClellan

Mitchell “Mitch” Terry McClellan of Glasgow died Thursday, Sept. 14, 2023, after a brief illness. He was a son of the late Owsley McClellan and Ruby McCoy McClellan (Ralph) Pace.
He was a Navy veteran, serving from 1954 to 1957 with Disabled American Veterans honors. He had been employed at Automotive Parts for more than 37 years. When he was not working, he was taking care of his yard. He was so proud that he mowed his yard on Friday before he got sick.
He had a love for horse racing and never missed watching the Kentucky Derby. His favorite horse was Secretariat.
Mitch is survived by his loving wife of 46 years,Sandy; daughters, Lavada (Tom) Meeks, Sam (Jim) Czoer, Shelly (Kenny) Thomas and Kim (Randy) Sherrill; sons, Kenny (Jacquie) Brown and Steve Brown; grandchildren, Rhiannon (Greg) Meeks, Clayton (Suzanne) Meeks, Amanda (Jason) Hale, Amber (Danny) Garcia, Rikki Bond, Ryan (Angie) Bond, Cameron (Sydney) Brown, Terry David (Bethany) Hawk, Billy (Monica) Mowery, Shelby Brown, Kaley (Thad) Billingsley, Mason Dunbar, Faylee (Connor) Cassady and Savannah Brown; 15 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren on the way; one brother, William Earl (Carolyn) McClellan; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, co-workers, and friends.
Funeral service is at 1 p.m. Monday at Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home, with burial in Lick Branch Cemetery. Visitation begins at 1 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

William S. Terry III

William Samuel Terry III

William Samuel Terry III, prominent Barren County farmer, died Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2023, after an illness of six and a half weeks. Since childhood, he was known to all as “Bumpy,” a nickname bestowed upon him as a child and continuing throughout his 86 years.
The Barren County native was born at Oakwood Farm on July 31, 1937, to the late William S. Terry Jr. and Frances Cheaney Terry.
As a young boy, his interest in the family farm and stewardship of the Earth were his great passions that continued throughout his life. In 1957, he was the first Barren Countian to earn the American Farmer Degree of the Future Farmers of America. He was firmly rooted to the soil and was the proprietor of Terryoaks Jerseys, an award-winning Grade-A Dairy, which he operated for 63 years.
Mr. Terry was a faithful member of the Hiseville Christian Church.
He is survived by his son, W. Samuel Terry IV. Other survivors include sisters-in-law Pitsy Buren and Mary Newby; brother-in-law, James A. Matthews III; nieces and nephews; and a cousin, Thomas M. Cheaney.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death in 2017 by his wife of 55 years, Martha Matthews Terry. He was also predeceased by his sister, Carolyn Ann.
Funeral service is at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 18, 2023, at Hiseville Christian Church, with burial in Horse Cave Cemetery, where five generations of his ancestors have also been laid to rest.
Visitation is from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Hatcher and Saddler Funeral Home. Visitation continues from 9 to 11 a.m. Monday at the church.
Suggested alternate expressions of sympathy include Community Medical Care, 204 N. Race St., Glasgow KY 42141; St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis TN 38105; or a preferred charity.
