Today, Sept. 25, the Cave City Police Department swore in Wesley Hicks as its newest law enforcement officer.
According to the department Hicks has an “impressive law enforcement background” that will make him “a valuable asset” to the department including graduating from the Department of Criminal Justice Training, the Academy of Police Supervision and having 10 years of on-the-job experience.
In addition, Hicks also has certifications in both officer training and in accident reconstruction. Both of which will help provide “the highest level of service to the community.”
Hicks was previously a sergeant with the Glasgow Police Department. During his time at GPD, Hicks received multiple recognitions including the Governor’s Award for the 2021 Impaired Driving Enforcement and the award for the 2021 Occupant Protection Enforcement for citing 129 seat belt violations and having 31 impaired driving arrests.
Terry Flatt, public information officer at GPD, said he did not know why Hicks moved to the Cave City Police Department.
“We’re confident that your dedication, skills, and commitment to serving the community will greatly enhance our ability to keep Cave City safe,” the Cave City department’s social media post states. “Once again, welcome to the Cave City Police Department, Officer Hicks! Let’s make a positive impact together!”
