
The Renaissance committee in partnership with the local veterans association is placing 16 veteran banners on light posts around the outside of the Square in Downtown Glasgow. Michael Crimmins/Glasgow News 1.

Kevin Myatt, planning director, works with members of Glasgow Parks and Recreation and Matt Mutter to figure out where each veteran should be placed. He said Mutter got the idea after seeing a similar set-up in a town in Mississippi. Michael Crimmins/Glasgow News 1.

Myatt along with Eddie Furlong, director of Glasgow Parks and Recreation, and Matt Mutter, chairman of the Barren County Veterans Association, have 16 banners, created by Gerald Printing, to place around the Square. Michael Crimmins/Glasgow News 1.

People stopped as they erected the banner in the early morning to chat with Mutter about the banners. Myatt said it is important to note that all veterans are from the Barren County area. Michael Crimmins/Glasgow News 1.

Myatt said he is very pleased with how the banners turned out and hopes the community will similarly like them. Mutter said his phone has already been “blowing up” with community members interested in learning more about the banners.Michael Crimmins/Glasgow News 1.
