Dylan Black is a junior at Barren County High School. He believes that “just because you were born differently doesn’t mean you are stuck where you are.” Dylan’s arms never fully developed, but he doesn’t let this physical challenge hold him back. He is a top performer on the archery team and has been involved with the sport since the 4th grade. He thought if he could figure out how to do archery, he could figure out how to do anything. He wants to inspire people who are born differently and commented, “So many people born like me are told ‘you can’t,’ but it isn’t true. You have the power to do anything. If you set your mind to it, the sky is the limit.” His older brother is his hero. He described him as being “so helpful for my entire life,” checking on him during class changes in elementary school, always trying to put a smile on his face, and always letting him know he was there to support him. Upon graduation, Dylan plans to go to college and major in computer engineering. We are so proud to shine a spotlight on Dylan, whose strong, persistent spirit is an inspiration to all.
