Criminal mischief complaint leads to felony drug arrest in Cave City

On Oct. 24 at approximately 11:10 p.m., Cave City Police Department officer Wesley Hicks responded to 308 N. Dixie Hwy. in reference to a criminal mischief complaint. Officer Hicks arrived on scene and detected the odor of marijuana coming from the residence. Officer Hicks made contact with a female at the residence and advised he was investigating a criminal mischief complaint.

Officer Hicks asked the residence owner for consent to search due to the odor of marijuana coming from the residence. Officer Hicks gained consent to search the residence and located methamphetamine, a 9 mm Springfield handgun, a trafficking amount of hemp, marijuana, several glass pipes, cash, several sets of digital scales and a ledger. All items were located within access of two juveniles that were located inside the residence.

In result of the investigation conducted by officer Hicks, Kelvin Roach, Brittany and Matthew Wright were all placed under arrest and lodged at the Barren County Detention Center on the following charges:

Officer Hicks was assisted with the investigation by officer Jacob Kersey and K-9 officer Garth Avery.

According to the Barren County Detention Center website Roach has a court date on Oct. 26 with an unsecured bond of $2,500 while Matthew Wright has the same court date but with a cash bond of $20,000. Brittany Wright has been released as of Oct. 25, according to the website, but has a court date set for 8:30 a.m. on Nov. 6.
