Thousands of cars travel in Glasgow on S. L. Rogers Wells Blvd., but as people drove that road on Oct. 24 they may have seen little wooden stakes tied with pink flags being driven into the ground in the vacant lot next to Sherwin-Williams Paint Store. According to a copy of a deed obtained through the Barren County Clerk’s Office, that tract of land, and another tract outlined by Elsie Street, Sandy Street and Georgetown Lane, were purchased on Jan. 25 by the Bowling Green-Warren County Community Hospital Corporation doing business as The Medical Center for $925,000.
According to the Kentucky Secretary of State’s business search, the corporation currently has listed 19 active assumed names — also called a DBA (doing business as) name, is used by an entity that is conducting business under a name that is not its legal name — including The Medical Center at Caverna, The Medical Center at Scottsville, Munfordville Primary Care Clinic and The Medical Center at Bowling Green.
David Gray, a member of the Board of Directors at Med Center Health, said currently there were no immediate plans for the property. The stakes put in the ground on Oct. 24 were just to take stock of the land, he said.
Within the vicinity of the property is Graves Gilbert Clinic Glasgow Care Clinic, the Glasgow Urgent Clinic and just four minutes up L. Rogers Wells is the T. J. Health Pavilion.
