On Nov. 25 at approximately 11:16 p.m., Cave City Police Department Officer Wesley Hicks conducted a traffic stop on S. Dixie Hwy. on a tan GMC truck in reference to several traffic violations.
Upon contact with the driver, identified as Steven Guffey, it was determined that Guffey was intoxicated and was arrested for DUI, after Standard Field Sobriety Testing was completed.
A passenger inside the truck was identified as Donald Watson, also intoxicated and after conducting a name check through NCIC, NCIC advised that Watson was currently on the sex offender registry in the state of Michigan.
After investigation, it was determined that Watson was non-compliant on the sex offender registry and was no longer residing in Michigan. Watson stated that he had moved to Kentucky and had been residing in Kentucky for over a month. Watson stated that he had not reported his change of residency to the sex offender office.
In result of the investigation Guffey and Watson were placed under arrest and lodged at the Barren County Detention Center.
Watson was charged with failure to comply with sex offender registry 1st offense. Guffey was charged with improper start from a parked position, failure to or improper signal, failure to maintain required insurance and DUI 1st.
According to the jail website, Watson has a cash bond of $2,500 with a court date scheduled for Nov. 27 at 12:30 p.m. Guffey was released on Nov. 26.
