The National Weather Service in Louisville has issued a tornado warning for northwestern Barren County, as well as central Warren County and southeastern Edmonson County.
The warning took effect at 2:54 p.m. and is until 4 p.m.
“At 2:54 p.m., a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located 8 miles southwest of Memphis Junction, moving northeast at 40 mph,” the national weather service stated.
Communities in the path of the storm include Bowling Green, Glasgow, Plum Springs, Crestmoor, Memphis Junction, Mount Victor, Cave City, Smiths Grove, Park City and Oakland.

A tornado watch has been issued for all counties in South Central Kentucky, including Barren, by the National Weather Service in Louisville.
The watch is in effect until 7 p.m. central standard time. The watch also includes Allen, Warren, Edmonson, Green, Hart, Metcalfe and Monroe counties in the area.
