Barren Inc. The Barren County Chamber of Commerce proudly introduces its new Board members for 2024. Elected to the Board by the chamber membership and ratified at the November Board of Directors meeting were Ale Gomez, Dr. Angie Harlan, Kevin Myatt, and re-elected to serve a second term, Chris Houchens.
Ale Gomez has been a resident of Glasgow for the past 15 years and is the Manager of the family-owned business, Garcia’s Grill. In addition to the Chamber, Ale also serves as the Vice -Chair of the Glasgow-Barren County Tourist and Convention Commission.
Dr. Angie Harlan is with Southcentral Kentucky Community and Technical College, has recently served on the Chamber’s Workforce and Talent Committee and is also a 2022 graduate of the Leadership Barren County Program. As Dean of SKYCTC’s Allied Health and Nursing Program, her leadership has led to the Glasgow Campus being ranked as the #1 Registered Nursing program in the state of Kentucky.
Kevin Myatt, director for the Joint City County Zoning and Planning Commission is a local native having been raised in Barren County where he graduated from Barren County High School in 1998. After high school, Kevin went on to graduate from WKU with a degree in science with an emphasis in Architecture, Geography and City/Regional Planning. Kevin is the Region 5 representative of the Kentucky Chapter of the American Planning Association (KAPA).
Chris Houchens, General Manager of Commonwealth Broadcasting will serve a second term as a director having been elected to the board initially in 2021. Chris has served on several Chamber committees and brings his marketing and branding expertise to support the Chamber and the membership.
On January 1, Matt London, Agency Manager of Kentucky Farm Bureau will begin his one-year term as Chair of the Board of Directors the Chamber. Matt was in line for the Chairman position, serving as Chair-Elect this year. Scott Kerley, owner of Kerley Construction will remain on as Immediate Past Chair and will be recognized at the Chambers’ Annual Dinner on February 7, 2024. Other officers elected for 2024 are Chair-Elect Nicole Randall, SCRTC; Vice Chair CheyAnne Fant, Barren County Board of Education; Second Vice Chair Trevor Phillips, Phillips Family Grocery & Butcher Shop; and Secretary/Treasurer Janis Turner with Peoples Bank.
Board of Members serve for a three-year term and may be elected for two terms. Those Members with one year remaining are Matt Compton, Bailey-Gibson Buick, GMC Inc; Rodrigo Diaz, Nemak USA; Mike Wagner, Green Mechanical Construction; Regina Murphy, Glasgow Independent Schools; Heather Streible, Replica Screenprinting LLC and Robin Owen, South Central Bank. Those with two years remaining of their term are Kim Glass, Glass Holdings; Jim Lee, T.J. Regional Health; Katie Billingsley, Billingsley Farm and Kole Wilkinson, Wilkinson Property Group.
The Chamber would like to thank their outgoing Board Members for their service and commitment to the membership and the community. Karisa Peterson, German American Bank, this year’s Immediate Past Chair and Chairman of the Board in 2022; April Russell with the City of Glasgow; Becky Barrick with Awards, Inc.; Chris Franklin with Don Franklin of Glasgow; Greg Bowen (formerly with Commonwealth Broadcasting) and Cathy Doty with Greer’s Florist.
