Though owners Alex Goldsmith and Matt Stasel are temporarily closing the Roxglass Bar and Music Venue during its relocation, the non-profit Cave City Can will continue to operate.
“We’re very optimistic about it,” Goldsmith said. “The building that we bought is bigger, the food pantry is bigger, and the bar space is bigger. Everything’s kind of upgraded for us, just in the worst possible circumstances.”
The food pantry will continue to serve the community from its current location at 107 Broadway St. in Cave City until Friday, Jan. 12. After Friday, the pantry will move to 101 Grinstead Mill Road. During this transitionary period the food pantry will be open seven days a week from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. Visitors can still visit the pantry in person to get items that they need and request deliveries. There are no limitations on the amount of products that guests can take, but Goldsmith tells guests to be mindful that the food pantry is meant to serve the community, so don’t take more than they need.
“For the most part, people are really considerate, so we let them pick what they need,” Goldsmith said.
Cave City Can is stocked with non-perishable foods, personal hygiene products, laundry detergents, baby food, household cleaning products, and cat and dog food. Everything is free-including deliveries.
Those who need to request a delivery from Cave City Can are encouraged to send a message to their Facebook page, the Facebook page for the Roxglass Bar, or call the Cave City Police Department to gain access to the pantry.
In addition to accepting donations in person, Goldsmith said that those who might not be able to make it to the non-profit, visit their Amazon Wishlist that can be found on the non-profit’s Facebook page.
