Barren County High School announced yesterday that the original gymnasium seats are available to the public in exchange for a donations to the Barren County Alumni Association.
This chance is due to the ongoing Barren County High School Renovation Project, which was approved by the Board of Education on Aug. 22, that includes numerous renovations to the baseball press box, the kitchen and cafeteria, the addition of an art gallery and new seats for the gym.
“We wanted to give people a chance to take a piece of BCHS history home, as well as support our Alumni Association,” Superintendent Bo Matthews said. “All donations will be used to fund Barren County Alumni Association scholarships for our seniors. We love the fact that we can use a part of our history to ensure our students have a bright future.”
There are three pickup opportunities that depends on the person’s affiliation. For people within the alumni association pickups are set for Mar. 14 from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Alumni members may call Barren County Alumni Coordinator Jackie Nuckols at 270-651-3787 to reserve chairs.
For the general public there are two pickup times scheduled. The first is scheduled for Friday, Mar. 15 from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and the second being on the following day from 9 a.m. until noon.
Chairs are available in sets of three with a six chair maximum per family with the exception of Mar. 16.
Those picking up chairs must come to door #7 on the north side of the gym to be checked in. People picking up chairs are required to bring their own tools to dismount the chairs.
Following is a list of tools you will need to bring for chair removal:
- Deep well 9/16′ socket
- Deep well 1/2 ” socket
- Deep well 10 mm socket
- 3/8″ drive ratchet
- 1/2″ combination wrench
- Drill with Philips head bit and 5/16″ bit
