For the first time, the Far Off Broadway Players are offering three different theatre workshops.
Each workshop involves six sessions over a three week period. All workshops are open to participants 16 years of age or older.
The first workshop will be titled “Intro to Acting” and it begins Monday March 25. For three weeks (Monday and Thursday evenings) FOBP Artistic Director Paul Glodfelter will be teaching the fundamentals of acting.
If you have little to no experience acting, this workshop will teach you how to audition, stage movement, stage directions, play reading and interpretation, voice and diction, facial expressions and so much more.
The second workshop is “Theatre Tech” and will be taught by FOBP Technical Director Catt Fitzgerald. The technical theatre workshop, beginning April 2nd, is an introduction to the mechanics of the magic behind the curtain.
It will cover an overview of the army of people behind the scenes; stage management, design, set construction, costumes, props, sound, and lights. Students will gain hands-on skills in basic carpentry, props design, costume selection, and entry-level stage crew positions.
The third workshop is “Intermediate Acting” and will be taught by FOBP Artistic Director Paul Glodfelter. This workshop begins April 15. If you’ve taken “Intro to Acting” or performed on stage before and want to learn more about the art of acting, then this workshop is for you.
This workshop will delve deeper into acting and include monologue work, accessing emotions, voice inflection, and character development. Both Artistic Director Paul Glodfelter and Technical Director Catt Fitzgerald bring their years of professional theatre experience together to provide a fun, educational experience to everyone who wants to enroll in one or all of these workshops!
The enrollment fee for each workshop is $125 and will go to help fund more educational opportunities for the theatre loving residents of South Central Kentucky.
