The Popup Licensing Program — “a traveling service that brings all the services offered in Driver Licensing Regional Offices to local communities that don’t have a regional office” — will be holding an event at Lera B. Mitchell Clubhouse on April 10.

The closest regional offices available to Barren County residents include one in Bowling Green, one in Columbia and one in Elizabethtown.

According to Circuit Court Clerk Krissie Coe Fields this popup event offers residents the opportunity to upgrade to the REAL ID — which will be necessary for anyone over 18 years old to fly within the U. S. and enter federal buildings — request an 8 year license if up for renewal, update your name and address and renew a Certified Drivers License, or CDL.

Individuals wishing to upgrade their driver’s license should bring a proof of identity, which can be a certified birth certificate, a passport or a permanent resident card — the website specifies that no photocopies will be accepted and those under 18 must provide a birth certificate — two proofs of residency, proof of social security number and, if applicable, one proof of name change. Additional information concerning REAL IDs can be viewed here and acceptable documents can be viewed here.

According to the Drive Kentucky website popup events are limited to residents of the host county and time slots are by appointment only, though the website states staff may be able to accept a limited number of walk-ins, and appointments, which must be made online, are on a first-come, first-serve basis

Registration for the April 10 popup opens March 27, which can be made on the Drive Kentucky website. A pricing list can be found here.

According to the website there are more popup events scheduled for Barren County including June 12, Aug. 14, Oct. 9 and Nov. 13
