Joseph Coleman
Joseph John Coleman, 68, of Glasgow, Kentucky, died Thursday, March 21, 2024, at Bayonet Point Hospital in Hudson, Florida. He was born Feb. 11, 1956 in Glasgow, Scotland, to the late Patrick Coleman and May Slater Coleman.Joseph served in the British Army, was a retired truck driver, and was a devoted member of St. Helen Catholic Church. He loved attending car shows, watching British murder mysteries, walking his dog Stella and watching his birds. Joseph was a very caring, respectful man. He never missed an opportunity to show support for a veteran and was always checking in on his neighbors. Joseph was also very low key and quiet. His favorite pastimes were sitting in the sunshine and spending time at the beach. He loved his family more than anything and will be dearly missed.
Survivors include his loving wife of 10 years, Emily Ratterman Coleman; one daughter, Katelynn Coleman of Glasgow; one son, Lee Coleman of Georgia; three sisters, Lilly McKay, Marie Ferrier and Sandra Gallagher, all of Glasgow, Scotland; two brothers, Robert Coleman of Glasgow, Scotland, and James Coleman of Reynella, Australia; one grandchild; one stepdaughter, Shannon Swift; one stepson, Greg Knoerr (Chris); four stepgrandchildren, Thurston, Jack, Boyd and Graceann; and several nieces and nephews.
Prayer service is at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, March 28, 2024, at A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home, with cremation planned later. Visitation is from 1 to 3:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Helen Catholic Church or Little Sisters of the Poor St. Joseph’s Home. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

James “Shorty” Geron
James “Shorty” Clayborn Geron of Smiths Grove died Friday, March 22, 2024, at his residence. He was born Oct. 20,1954, in Glasgow to the late Ed Clayborn Geron and Eva (Walker) Emmitt. Shorty was the owner and operator of Shorty’s Pay Lake for 24 years.
Shorty is survived by his mother, Eva (Walker) Emmitt; three sons, James Geron, Anthony Geron and Josh Geron; his daughter, Angie Geron; and three sisters, Sandra Gillenwater (Perry), Kathy Hughes (Jody) and Margie Ford; 14 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Shorty was preceded in death by his father, Ed Clayborn Geron; his brother, Eddie Geron; his sister, Joyce Slade; and great-grandparents, Jimmy Frankline Walker, Bessie (Fishburn) Walker, Leonard Heron Geron and Fannie May Geron.
The family chose to honor Shorty’s wishes of cremation. A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.

Elizabeth Louise (Russell) Lemay, 73, of Glasgow died Jan. 21, 2024, at Jewish Hospital in Louisville due to health complications. She was born March 27, 1950, at home in Hiseville to the late Joe Abb Russell and Maude (Pierce) Russell.
She graduated in 1968 from Temple Hill High School in Barren County. She worked as a telephone operator, manager of Kentucky Fried Chicken and for General Electric, and she retired from Smucker’s. After her retirement, she enjoyed being creative with many projects; making gifts for family and friends; and spending time with children, grandchildren and her siblings. One of her favorite pastimes was fishing with her husband Larry and grandchildren. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, crocheting, gardening and adorning her yard with flower gardens. She was known to make the best pimento cheese around and it was requested at every gathering. She loved to shop and find great bargains to share with her family. She collected holiday Barbie dolls and was a fan of beautiful porcelain teacups. She was a member of Union No. 2 Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband of more than 56 years, Larry Lemay of Glasgow, whom she married Aug. 27, 1968; two daughters, Lavada Carol (Michael) Grimes of Scottsville and Bonnie (Joey) Moore of Scottsville; grandchildren, Jazzmine (Tyler) Cline, Dustin (Kristin) Jones, Katie (Kenny) Cox, Samantha (Scott) Shelton, Dyllan Harper, Jessica Moore; great-grandchildren; two brothers, Avalon (Lillian) Russell and Larry (Diane) Russell; one sister, Lavada Gosser; a sister-in-law, Kathy (Harry T.) Ramey; two brothers-in-law, Eddie Lemay and David (Judy) Lemay; and several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and -nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Robert Mitchell Lemay; father-in-law, Robert Lemay;mother-in-law, Eunice Houchens; brothers, Joe Lannis (Lois) Russell, Lemuel Russell and Gobel (Bonnie) Russell; sister, Nell (Marvin) Shockley; brother-in-law, Troy Gosser; and a special niece, Wanda Lee Russell.
A celebration of life service is at 11 a.m. March 29, 2024, at Union No. 2 Baptist Church, with Brother Roy Shockley and Brother Charles Spearman officiating and burial there. Arrangements are entrusted to Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home.

Emogene Madison
Emogene Madison, 95, of Park City died peacefully with her family by her side Monday, March 25, 2024, at The Hospice House in Bowling Green. The Barren County native was born July 17, 1928, to the late Owsley “O.B.” and Ellen Smith Boyd. She was married for 61 years to the late Horace “Rocky” Madison, who preceded her in death Dec. 21, 2010.
Emogene was a former beautician and owner of Emogene’s Beauty Shop. She also worked at Wondering Woods and as a teacher’s aide for Barren County Schools. She was the oldest living member of Park City United Methodist Church.
She leaves to honor her memory her children, Peggy Christy of Park City and Gary David Madison (Betsy) of Bowling Green; grandchildren, David Madison (Chrystal), Chris Madison (Sandra), Brandon Christy (Myrisa) and Lindsay Christy; stepgrandchildren, Jacob Stevens (Cara) and Tyler Stevens (Shelbie); great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Madison (Austin), Fox Christy, River Christy and Hayden Evans; stepgreat-grandchildren, Elisabeth, Joseph, Abigail, John, Jude and Julian Stevens; and great-great granddaughter, Madilyn Jones.
She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Mildred Ramey and Sara Cawthon, and son-in-law, Milton Christy.
Funeral service is at 11 a.m. Friday, March 29, 2024, at Patton Funeral Home Park City Chapel, with interment in Evergreen Visitation is from 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday and 9 to 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
