UPDATE: Christopher Lawrence Safford, 44, of Glasgow, was arrested on charges of first-degree wanton endangerment, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon and receiving stolen property (firearm). The charges are in connection with a standoff with police in Glasgow on Tuesday morning, April 2.
He was lodged in the Barren County Detention Center as of Tuesday afternoon. He has an initial court appearance set for Wednesday, April 3, at 9 a.m.
Around 9:11 a.m. Tuesday, April 2, the Glasgow Police Department received a phone call stating that there was a disturbance at Storage Sense on Happy Valley Road.
Upon arrival, GPD determined that an unidentified male subject had a hostage and a handgun inside of the office.
The Barren County Sheriff’s Office and GPD worked together to negotiate with the male subject.
After more than an hour of negotiating, the unnamed man let the hostage go and was arrested by GPD.
Charges are pending.
No one was harmed.
