On April 11 at 5 p.m. the members of the Caverna Independent Schools Board of Education are scheduled to meet for their regularly scheduled meeting wherein they will discuss and approve substitute teacher salaries, emergency substitute certificates and the year-end audit.
The 15 item agenda of Thursday’s board meeting is sparse on details with no elaboration given concerning the approval of the substitute teacher salaries for the next fiscal year. However, item six on the agenda speaks of a “blanket order for school year 2024-2025 to cover [the] anticipated number of emergency substitute certificate.”
Emergency certificates are used “if qualified teachers are not available for specific positions” and the requirements for such a certificate is laid out by the Education Professional Standards Board, which was authorized by Kentucky Revised Statute 161.100. According to Section 16 of the Kentucky Admin Regulations the applicant of a certificate “shall complete 12 clock hours of training as required by the Office of Special Instructional Services of the Kentucky Department of Education” along with completing a minimum of 64 semester hours from a regionally accredited institution or four years of technical education in the applicable field.
The board members will also approve Campbell, Myers and Rutledge to conduct their yearly audit. The company is a “full service public accounting firm” founded in 1945.

- Approve to renew contract with Fastech for the 24-25 school year
- Approve salary schedules for the 24-25 school year
- Approve continuation of the learning plan (Not-traditional instruction plan)
- Approve the renewal of Roberts insurance quote with AIG for student accident insurance
