On May 13, the Glasgow Independent Schools Board of Education is scheduled to meet at 6:30 p.m. in the library of Glasgow High School wherein the the board’s five members will discuss a myriad of agenda items including recognizing district retirees, the approval of the 2024-2025 tentative budget and discuss the “the evaluation of the Superintendent” Chad Muhlenkamp.

As usual the agenda is divided into four major sections and much like the county school district that honored their retirees on May 9, the Glasgow school district will honor this year’s retirees as the school year draws to a close. Unfortunately, unlike the county school board agenda, it does not provide the names of those that will be recognized.

Also, as is typical for this time of the school year, the board will approve the 2024-2025 tentative budget. In the vein of “par for the course” procedures for this time of year, the board are set to approve a total of nine “salary schedules” for the upcoming academic year. Positions such as “Certified Employee Salary Schedule, Mental Health Counselor, Speech Pathologist, Classified Speech Pathologist Asst., Classified (Hourly), Classified (Annual Salary) Extended Employment/Extra Service Supplements, Clubs and Misc. Stipends, Substitute Teacher Pay Scale and Athletic Stipends.”

Towards the end of the meeting the board will enter into closed session for “preliminary discussions relating to the evaluation of the Superintendent” empowered by Kentucky Revised Statutes 156.557 — which states that while “the summative evaluation of the superintendent shall be in writing, discussed and adopted in an open meeting” any “preliminary discussions relating to the evaluation of the
superintendent by the board or between the board and the superintendent prior to the summative evaluation shall be conducted in closed session” — and 61.810.

As the KRS requires the board will vote to return to open session to “present and adopt the summative evaluation of the superintendent.”
