It was with teary eyes that Julie Wright Jolly took the oath of office for Barren County Circuit Court Clerk. She was sworn in to fill the remainder of Krissie Coe Fields' unexpired term. Family Court Judge Mica Wood Pence administered the two oaths of office while her husband, Chad Jolly, held her Bible in the Circuit Courtroom of the Barren County Courthouse. As people filled into the courtroom Jolly greeted each with a handshake or, in many cases, a hug and thanking them for attending. Attendees seemed to share Jolly’s excitement as 4 p.m. drew nearer. Jolly takes over as Barren County Circuit Clerk on Sunday, June 16. The courtroom was filled with numerous well-known Barren County and Glasgow community members such as County Attorney Mike Richardson, Commonwealth Attorneys John and Resa Gardner, Circuit Court Judge John Alexander and State Representative Steve Riley. For the swearing-in ceremony Jolly chose the Bible given to her on Christmas in 1999 – the same year she graduated high school – by her father and mother. Michael Crimmins/Glasgow News 1


Jolly takes over for Krissie Coe Fields on June 16. According to county clerk Helena Birdwell Chase she was the only person in Barren County to take the required circuit clerk exam. Jolly will also appears on the November ballot as a candidate for this same position. With Coe Fields’ withdrawal she is running unopposed. Michael Crimmins/Glasgow News 1.


Jolly swore two oaths in front of the filled room; one was the Constitutional oath and the other was her oath of office. “I promise you I will do the absolute best that I can do and I will be honest and will work hard,” Jolly said after the ceremony. Michael Crimmins/Glasgow News 1.
