Eva Mae Walker Geron Emmitt, 86, of Glasgow, Kentucky died peacefully Thursday, June 21, 2024 at Barren County Health and Rehabilitation surrounded by her family.
She was born August 15, 1937 in Glasgow, Kentucky to the late Jimmy Franklin Walker and late Bessie Fishburn Walker. Eva was a homemaker for many years while raising six children. She then became a caregiver to her mother and two younger brothers who were disabled, until she was no longer able to do so.
Survivors include her husband, Earl Emmitt; three daughters, Sandra Gillenwater (Perry), Kathy Hughes (Jody), and Margie Ford; one sister, Mildred Jines; one brother, Wesley Earl Walker; a daughter-in-law, Cathy Geron; three stepchildren, Clara Overstreet (Willard), Katina Moore (Chris), and Phillip Emmitt; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Ed Geron; one daughter, Joyce Slade; two sons, James “Shorty” Geron and Eddie “Jr” Geron; five brothers, Carl Walker (Judy), Charles David Walker, Roy Walker, James Walker, and Edward Walker; one brother-in-law, Frank Jines; one step daughter, Lisa Emmitt.
The funeral service for Mrs. Emmitt will be 3 p.m. Tuesday, June 25 at A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in the Bon Ayr Cemetery. Visitation will be on Monday, June 24 from 4 until 8 p.m. and on Tuesday morning until time for the service at the funeral home.
