One of Glasgow’s few murder trials has effectively stalled until Dedontae Morrison can be evaluated by the Kentucky Correctional Psychiatric Center, a “licensed psychiatric hospital” that is the only place in state that can perform such evaluations.

The center, which is located on the grounds of Luther Luckett Correctional Complex in Lagrange, Kentucky, has only a specific number of beds and, with the center’s exclusive hold on court-ordered evaluations, the waitlist is lengthy.

According to prior reporting, Morrison’s defense filed an ex parte motion — meaning “a motion filed by one party without notice to any other party” — for a mental evaluation due to some concerns the defense had “based on some conversations” they had with Morrison. Given this, Circuit Court Judge John Alexander filed an order for an independent KCPC psychiatric evaluation.

According to the Kentucky Court of Justice website, Morrison’s next review is set for Sept. 30 at 1 p.m. where, if completed, the two reports will be discussed.
