Investigation determined that Jeffery Denton, 55, of Glasgow was traveling southbound on Louisville Road. A witness stated that the Mercury passenger car that Denton was operating, veered off the left side of the roadway and struck a tree head on.
Denton was not wearing a seat belt at time of the accident and was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to Mike Houchens, public information officer with the Barren County Sheriff’s Office, the roadway is now open.
“I will send an update when I can,” Houchens said in an email. “It may be in the morning due to ensuring we give the family enough time for notification.”

At approximately 1:11p.m., the Barren County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to a single vehicle fatality crash on Louisville Road (U.S. 31-W) at the intersection of Old Dixie Highway. First responders are still on the scene of the crash. Currently there is one lane of traffic open, so we ask that you use caution in the area.
More information on the cause of the accident will be released when it becomes available.
