The Barren County School District Board of Education is set to meet Aug. 8 at 5:30 p.m. at the district’s central office to approve a multitude of agenda items in anticipation of the fast approaching 2024-25 academic year.
In total there are 12 contracts, grants, and memorandums of agreement or understanding that are listed for approval including the agreement with Glasgow’s Housing Authority for lease of the HERO Center while the College Street Campus is undergoing renovations, the Cumberland Valley Health Contract, the Kentucky Department of Education Community Education grant and the Fresh Fruits and Vegetables grant.
There are also two policies listed on the agenda. The first is a first reading on Board Policy 01.11, which concerns the “General Powers and Duties of the Board,” and the second is a second reading of the Nutricion Services and Wellness Policy 09.2 concerning “student welfare.”
At the end of the meeting they are also suppose to convene the district’s finance corporation to approve a contract with Causey Demgen and Moore, a certified public accounting and consulting firm based out of Denver, Colorado.
Also, as has become something of a staple on the board’s agendas, the five board members, and Superintendent Amy Irwin, will get construction updates and review, in this specific case, two change orders.
